By 24.09 (hopefully sooner), there should be 3 active TIP products:

  • TIP V3 (tip.science) [the actual TIP platform, on AWS]
  • TIP lite (tip-lite.science) [for students, also on AWS]
  • TIP "V2.2" (tip.itis.swiss) [the soon-to-be-deprecated TIP platform, deployed locally]

What happens to existing users, before 24.09:

  • all users on tip.itis.swiss have their accounts (incl. data) duplicated onto tip.science
  • all accounts on tip.science are DISABLED (i.e. users cannot login or do anything)
  • all accounts on tip.itis.swiss remain active and usable
  • no accounts and no data are migrated/copied to tip-lite.science. This one starts from scratch.

Likely evolution, within "a few" months...

  • there is a feature that allows users to download their project from tip.itis.swiss
  • there is a feature that allows users to upload their project into tip.science
  • there is a feature that allows users to upload their project into tip-lite.science [TBD, as it means users should be allowed to open projects made in V2.2 with TIP-lite, but not create new similar projects in TIP-lite, e.g. if they use one of the "disabled" templates...]
  • we can start phasing out tip.itis.swiss
    • users of tip.itis.swiss are made aware that this deployment will shut down and they have to download their projects
    • no active users are left on tip.itis.swiss
