Show & Tell: WikiMasters — Interactive Wikipedia Trading Card Game built with TanStack Router & Start

I wanted to share a project we recently built with TanStack Router and TanStack Start: WikiMasters (wikimasters.org).

What is WikiMasters?

WikiMasters transforms real-time Wikipedia articles into dynamic knowledge-based trading cards. Players collect, upgrade, and duel cards across history, science, geography, and culture using actual encyclopedia metadata and algorithmic card stat generation.

Why TanStack Router / Start?

1. Type-safe Navigation & Search Params: The game relies heavily on URL state for game lobbies, search queries, and card deck filters. TanStack Router’s full type-safety made state management seamless without boilerplate.
2. Server Functions & SSR: We leverage TanStack Start’s edge compilation to render card previews and OpenGraph tags dynamically on Cloudflare Workers with minimal latency.
3. Optimistic UI Updates: Deck building and card inspection feel snappy thanks to TanStack Router and Query data caches.
