en-git ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome extension collects, uses, and safeguards your information.

GitHub Data

  • Public Profile Information: Username, avatar, bio, location, company, follower/following counts
  • Repository Data: Public repositories, stars, forks, languages, commit activity
  • Activity Data: Contribution graphs, commit history, pull requests (public repositories only)

User Preferences

  • Settings: Theme preferences, notification settings, cached data preferences
  • Local Storage: User preferences are stored locally in your browser

OAuth Tokens (Optional)

If you choose to connect your GitHub account:

  • Access Tokens: Stored securely to access GitHub API on your behalf
  • Scope: Read-only access to public profile and repository data
  • Storage: Tokens are stored locally in Chrome's secure storage

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Display GitHub analytics and insights
  • Generate career recommendations and skill assessments
  • Compare GitHub profiles
  • Provide repository deep-dive analysis
  • Cache data to reduce API calls and improve performance

Data Storage

  • Local Storage: All user data and preferences are stored locally in your browser
  • Backend Server: Anonymous analytics data may be temporarily processed on our servers (en-git.onrender.com)
  • No Personal Data Storage: We do NOT store your personal information, OAuth tokens, or identifiable data on our servers

  • Delete: Remove all stored data by uninstalling the extension

  • Revoke Access: Disconnect GitHub OAuth at any time

Security

We implement security measures to protect your data:

  • OAuth tokens stored in Chrome's secure storage
  • HTTPS-only connections to our backend
  • No sensitive data transmitted to third parties
  • Regular security updates and patches

Data Retention

  • Local Data: Retained until you clear browser data or uninstall the extension
  • Cache: Automatically cleared based on your cache settings
  • OAuth Tokens: Removed immediately upon disconnection or uninstallation

Children's Privacy

Our extension is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
