Something to do with "New Mexico" vs "New Mexico Territory"?

This is an issue with the NGIS Join code. It changes when New Mexico Territory becomes a state. If you search for Santa Fe, New Mexico, you will see that it picks up where the territory data left off. What we need to do is map this spatially instead of by NHGIS code. This issue persist for any county that changes from territory to state. We have been doing this with the congressional election map, so it should be fairly straightforward to implement in this map. Thanks for pointing this out!
