AMUSE has strange installation issues and I'm using Anaconda

Unfortunately, Anaconda and AMUSE don't work well together currently.
The AMUSE installation instructions are written with system software in mind, and using Anaconda may override which library/compiler/... is found by AMUSE. This may (and most likely will) create incompatibilities, causing build failures.
Currently, we recommend not using Anaconda with AMUSE (unless you are willing to experiment, in which case, please let us know of any successful installation recipes!) and deactivating any Anaconda environment you are using before installing and using AMUSE.
To still have the benefit of a clean environment to use with AMUSE, we recommend using Python's built in venv module to create a virtual environment, and installing AMUSE with pip following the instructions in the documentation.
