How to setup Instagram photo stream (based on hashtag or user)

I can't seem to find anything about setting up a instagram photo stream and hoped maybe someone can assist me with setting this up?

@dionsamsoe this is a bit complicated as Instagram don't have an API you can use for this without setting up a developer account and an app etc. I briefly investigated doing it too and couldn't find a simple way, although that was probably a good 9 months ago by now so maybe things have changed (or maybe not, based on your findings!).
