Recurring Batch?

I know it is possible to have recurring jobs, but is it possible to have recurring batches?

After a batch has finished I want to start it again straight away, or wait a few minutes before starting it, depending on how long it took to finish.

I can think of a few ways to handle this.

1. Combine all smaller jobs into one larger job and then use the recurring job functionality.
2. Restart the batch within a callback job that runs after the batch has finished - the restart logic could live within this job.

Any thoughts on the best approach?
