Dialer keypad does not have overlay like qwerty pad has... why not?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. If I am sending a test, email... anything using the alpha/numeric pad,
it has the better keyboard overlay (skin) applied
2. If I open the dialer.. the keypad is still standard (stock) hero pad....
why does the better keyboard skin not get applied?

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I see the stock dialer keypad


What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

v1.5 Sprint HTC hero
