As Company "Elastic" has changed license conditions from version 7.11 on, the current recommened (based on license conditions) version of ElasticSearch to be used in KITODO context is 7.10.
On the other hand, the famous log4j-security-issue was solved in version 7.16. only - this means if you use 7.10 you need to do some mitigations manually instead.
Proposal here is to use OpenSearch / OpenSearchOnGitHub instead, which is well maitained and which comes with a user friendly Apache 2 license.
This looks like to be a much more future proof usage of this "Elastic Search" function.
I use it already in my KITODO environment and it runs fine without any problems.
