MCP Server for Fluent UI Blazor — We want your feedback!

We recently introduced an MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server to help developers work with the Fluent UI Blazor component library. One of its core goals is to assist users migrating from v4 to v5 by providing per-component migration documentation directly through AI-powered tools.

As of v5 RC1, the MCP server can:

• Retrieve "how to migrate" documentation for each component
• Assist AI coding agents in understanding breaking changes between v4 and v5

This is just the beginning. The migration documentation will continue to evolve through the upcoming RC releases to become more accurate and comprehensive.

Have you considered placing component usage, including theme customization and integration tutorials, into the repository's skills folder, along with upgrade guides? This might be more convenient than MCP. Because I'm currently using shadcn/ui, which provides skills and follows component code updates.

I hope there the whole demo site or documentation available in md file which can easily feed to AI agent. the current AI coding doesn't work well with flent ui blazor.

The demo site is built with Blazor and is dynamic. That is one of the reasons we developed an MCP. What challenges have you encountered while using it?

So I guess Claude and Codex users are screwed? Would be nice if the mcp server could be hosted somewhere instead of forcing developers to run it locally but I understand why you guys wouldn't want to host it - would just be a much more streamlined experience and wouldn't have to worry about updating

The MCP server works with Copilot, as well as with other AI engines. We use the standard MCP protocol.

But we are currently working on a version of the website that will display statistics, so that AI systems can use it easily (see the PRs). This issue is caused by Blazor, which uses a WebSocket to dynamically generate HTML code... something that AI tools don’t accept well.

Indeed it seems to work well with claude, just needs to be configured as such

Is all that is needed inside of .mcp.json for claude code to pick it up.

I also noticed a separate issue with the skills, it seems visual studio does not like the name used inside of skills.md with the uppercase letters and spaces - as well as the fact that the name does not match the folder/directory the skill is placed in.

Recommend changing the name to

name: fluentui-blazor-usage

to match the folder name

Or change it to fluent-ui-blazor-v5-usage-guide to preserve v5 in the name - the folder will also need to be renamed to match
