[Expo] [iOS] - TestID's and Elements are not found by Maestro when the app initially loads #2236

Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched the existing issues and didn't find mine.

Steps to reproduce

Device: iOS Simulator iPhone SE
OS Version: 17
Expo Version: 51.0.39
React Native Version: 0.75.3
Maestro Version: 1.39.7

  1. Start an Expo App with the specs above
  2. Add a testID with and accessible={false} to a view or text element
  3. Open maestro studio

Actual results

Currently testID and React Native elements are not visible during the initial load of the application (see attached video)

Expected results

Maestro Studio should be able to visibly see React native elements and testID once the app has fully rendered,

About app

  • Cross-platform app
  • React Native with Expo
  • React Native Version is 0.75.3
  • Expo Version is 51.0.39
  • iOS Version 17

About environment

Tested this on two different devices and got the same result.

Computer # 1:

  • Mac M2 Sequoia 15.1
  • Processor arm64

Computer # 2:

  • Mac M3 Sequoia 15.2
  • Processor arm64

same, on simulators iOS 15-18.2
