Pls suggest how to resolve the issue?

Others have seen this problem when rustc isn't updated or installed correctly on your system. Could you try the steps outlined in #309?

Commenting to say I had the same issue and the mentioned trouble shoot worked for me! I've been trying to install modkit in a docker image so the only caveat I'll add is when installing rust I used a slightly modified command curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -sSf https://sh.rustup.rs | sh -s -- -y to run it not interactively in case other people run into the same issue
