Hello Modkit users. The final release for 2024, v0.4.2, has been uploaded. I wanted to take this opportunity to say "thank you" for all of the constructive questions and comments on this project this year. These questions, in aggregate, have become a valuable resource to researchers using Modkit to study epigenetics with Nanopore. So please keep the questions coming, I'll try to answer ones that I can and find people who can answer the ones I can't.

I have to admit that the last release didn't have all of the additions that I wanted, and I'm sure some folks will be wondering "where's that feature I asked for?". I will try to give you an explanation instead of an excuse. We've been working on a few big and ambitious new features for Modkit. These larger features simply take a lot of time due to their scientific risk. This R+D comes at the (hopefully small) expense of adding more "routine" features in the short term. So I want to reassure anyone watching this project that in no way has Modkit become less of a priority to me or my team - quite the opposite. If there is an feature (enhancement) or, worse, a bug that you've discovered and feel it hasn't gotten enough attention please ping the issue to bring it up the list.

Lastly, I greatly enjoy working on Modkit and feel very fortunate to do so. I'm able to continue to work on this project largely because all of you find it useful for your work, fostering a positive feedback loop, so thank you for that.
