Hi.
This is interresting, and sorry for the late response. Now it indeed has become an island, because it is separated on power supply board. I'm learning electronics so I'm very happy about your feedback. The reasoning was that I've seen "somewhere" that you should connect ground of a buck converter at a "single point" - which I have interpreted as having a ground island for the buck. You think it's a better idea to just have a common ground? Could you guide me to a forum or Youtube video with discussion about this topic, if it is a topic?
Hi,
I saw that there was already some discussion in the esk8 forum about GND islands.
In the latest design the buck converters are still on GND islands and the current return paths (especially for the 5V regulator) are quite long.
Is there any reasoning behind this? Is this subject to change?
In my experience cutting GNDs like this almost always degrades signal quality.
Really like the project so far, keep it up!
