As with ActivityPub, Nostr is just a protocol, it can't make and break spam out of thin air. Do you go to the ActivityPub work group on w3c to complain because you're experiencing spam on Mastodon? |

This is a strange thing to post about here. Do you suppose the spammer hangs out it nostr nips to catch your comment? If not, why post about random spam? Spam is prevalent everywhere, no one here can do anything about it, just as you couldn't do anything about someone spamming links to your project on nostr. |

My hope is to create awareness that whoever is doing it understands that it is not as fruitful as they hope. How would you feel if a someone continuously creates discussions and issues on this repository with random users spamming another open source project? Here are some examples:
Curiously the last spam user is now online as well, one spammer originated from Singapore, the other from India. Anyhow, my intention as stated above has been fulfilled. There's no bad feelings towards this community in any sense. |

Honestly it's weird, is he asking you to support Nostr logins? If it's not meant to invite hate for Nostr, then he should be handled in the same way as a normal feature request. And while the syntax is very ChatGPT-like, it's worth noting that Nostr has recently been battling a similar AI-powered spam.🤦♂️ Can you provide specific information about spammers? IP or others. |

Welcome to Nostr. :) Spam is common. Clients and relays should deal with it through the usual rate-limiting, IP blocking, and Web of Trust tools. You should always code as if 1000s of spammers are hitting your infrastructure at all times. |

Thank you for raising this. We hope the person who is doing this spamming reads this post and realizes they're not helping Nostr by spamming autogenerated garbage on other projects. |

Hey everyone,
I am part of the team that operates the open source software @flarum. As community software, we fight against spam almost daily and usually we have no issues dealing with it.
The past few days I've noticed a new kind of spam, where users are being created to promote and link to Nostr. I am sure that, as a respectable open source project, you can understand how harmful it is to be considered an ill-intended actor.
It is very likely that whoever is doing this is very passionate about your project, which is great. And I'm hoping they will be able to understand that spamming other projects is not the right way to bring attention to something as amazing as Nostr.
Thank you for reading this, good luck with this project.
Daniël.
