We also need to simulate some datasets where the ground truth is known.

Maybe try it with SRTsim:

scGCO proposed a specific method for simulating SVGs:
https://github.com/WangPeng-Lab/scGCO/tree/master/code/analysis/Simulation

The simulation process is as follows:

Find spatial transcriptomics data with clear spatial patterns which can be different cell types or tissue structures
Using Splatter to generate synthetic data
