"Display field in selection list" working correctly?

This is a "venues" Pod intended to collect data about a place, where an event takes place. "Venues" uses "Geo mashup location" to provide a long and lat for [Google Maps|OpenStressMaps] display.
The problem is that the display in the resulting dropdown list does not seem to use the (in my opinion) intended "Display field in selection" field, but "Table index columns":

Steps to recreate the problem:

1. Install and configure Geo Mashup locations (https://wordpress.org/plugins/geo-mashup/). Probably any other third-party plugin would do, too.
2. Create a Pod called "Venues"
3. Add a field called e.g. "Geo Data" witht he configs as shown in Screenshot_01__venue_pod_01.png and Screenshot_02__venue_pod_02.png.

1. Add some venues and give them a name in the "Saved name" column (which will be saved to the "saved_name" column in the DB)
2. Create a new entry ("venue") via the new pod menu "venues".
3. Under "more fields" there should be a "venue" selector similar to Screenshot_03__add_venue_01.png (meaning: the selection dropdown should show the names of the venues).

1. Go back to the Pod "Venues" and change the entry in "Table index column" to "id", but leave "Display field for selection" as is.
2. Edit the afore created venue and check the drop down, which now should show only numbers (as shown in Screenshot 4)

In my opinion there seems to be a mistake - or at least the naming and description of the pods field is very confusing.

I posted this in 2016!!! And since then I moved on. Why do you convert that to a dicussion not???
