Currently dap2tin works great for variables located on triangle nodes, but it would be great to be able to use the TIN functionality in ArcMAP when the data are at the triangle "centers" (a.k.a. "faces"), as is the case with the velocity components U,V in FVCOM.
When looking at the TIN properties in ArcMAP, we saw something that said "face tag value" as well as "node tag value". We need to explore that more, but perhaps it's just the ID of the faces and nodes?

@scw, I was looking back through these issues, and wondering if you know the answer here.
Is it possible to represent data on the triangle face (instead of triangle nodes) in TIN?
@rsignell-usgs pretty busy with other projects for the next couple of weeks, want to chat about this after then? Will you be at the Ocean Forum this year? Anytime early November works well for me to chat and push on these issues.
