Pairing Issues with Xiaomi Multimode Gateway 2 Firmware #1

Hi, thanks for the great work on compiling the firmware for the Xiaomi Multimode Gateway 2! It's a fantastic device with a minimal design, perfect for use as a Zigbee coordinator for Zigbee2MQTT. I've found the firmware from here in case if you are wondering.

I'm currently using the ncp-uart-hw-7430-115200-nohw.gbl image (link) and am experiencing some issues with pairing and maintaining connections with certain devices:

  • Pairing Failure: Some devices pair with the coordinator but fail to interview/configure. A red warning icon appears next to the device in the Zigbee2MQTT UI.
  • Connection Drops: Other devices initially appear to pair successfully but then stop reporting states and leave the network within 15-60 seconds.

The devices that do pair successfully work great, so it seems to be limited to the pairing/interview process.

These same devices work flawlessly when paired with a different Zigbee2MQTT setup using a CC2652P coordinator, so I believe the issue lies within the firmware or its interaction with the Xiaomi gateway.

My Setup:

  • Zigbee2MQTT version: 1.41.0
  • Coordinator: Xiaomi Multimode Gateway 2 EU with ncp-uart-hw-7430-115200-nohw.gbl firmware

Please let me know if you have any insights into these issues or require any further information for debugging. Thanks!

I'll have a look, sorry for not noticing the issue.
Can you list all the non-working devices?

No worries! Whether the device work or not has been kind of hit and miss and sometimes joining via a router would make the device stay on the network so it's pretty hard to list them... But here are some of the devices that I have tried:

and various other devices I couldn't recall right now. The network was small as well with no more than 10 devices joined (couldn't really join that many devices anyway since they just keep on leaving the network after joining)

Originally I thought the issue only occurs with Zigbee 1.2 devices but after I've tried a few 3.0 devices they seem to have the same issue as well.
