Sorry, I am confused about the following code

\newcommand{\logosection}[2]{%
    \section{\makebox[\widthof{\faGraduationCap}][c]{\color{ICBlue}#1}\  #2}
}

why is the width of logosection set to the width of {\faGraduationCap} ?
instead of the width of {#1}?
