While looking through the debug item spawn list, I saw peanut seeds, but no peas. Might just be me, but I feel like this is a bit strange, since peanuts are much harder to grow in New England than peas.
Solution you would like.
I think peas are a reasonable plant to add, since they're a common Rhode Island garden plant and provide a steady source of food, even in higher than optimal temperatures.
Describe alternatives you have considered.
If the plant system is too expansive, we could remove less common plants instead.

If nobody picks this up, I might give it a shot. Probably won't work properly, though.

That should be enough to make an item for it. Again, since cataclysm doesn't have "shapes", we'll just make a homogeneous mass for the pea.
Peas are ~1,015g/1 liter, so 250ml of peas (Which seems to be the standard, at least looking at the fruit) should be... 253.75g? I think that may be wrong, but I ain't a pea expert
