Clarify that support for Spring Boot 3.5.x is available through the springBoot-3.0 feature #8020

Closed

Description

@yeekangc

Please describe the problem you are having with the documentation. Is information missing, inaccurate, or unclear? Tell us about the context where you encountered the problem so we can understand how to address it.

https://openliberty.io/docs/latest/reference/feature/springBoot-3.0.html indicates that the feature supports 3.x.x. Then, in https://openliberty.io/docs/latest/deploy-spring-boot.html, it's unclear that this feature actually supports Spring Boot versions beyond 3.0.x.

If your application uses Spring Boot 3.0.4+, enable the springBoot-3.0 feature.

Update the deploy-spring-boot document to indicate Spring Boot 3.5.x is supported. Or, 3.x.x is supported via the springBoot-3.0 feature.

    HI @yeekangc

    Suggested correction has been made to the deploy-spring-boot document.

    Thanks.

    What about something like the below? @tjwatson, what do you think?

    If your application uses Spring Boot 3.0.4+ (including later versions such as 3.5.x in the 3.x.x stream), enable the springBoot-3.0 feature.

    I think we should go with something like what @yeekangc suggests but I think we should do it for all 3 major versions:

    • If your application uses Spring Boot 1+ (including versions such as 1.5.22 in the 1.x.x stream), enable the springBoot-1.5 feature.
    • If your application uses Spring Boot 2+ (including versions such as 2.7.18 in the 2.x.x stream), enable the springBoot-2.0 feature.
    • If your application uses Spring Boot 3+ (including versions such as 3.5.6 in the 3.x.x stream), enable the springBoot-3.0 feature.
