POC to MVP: the struggle bus.

Summary

Scale is hard. APIs are hard. Everything is hard.

Over the past few months we've been working on an advanced image analysis API. We started at the R&D phase and built a proof of concept implementation with various (cool) functionality. Once that was validated, we were tasked with turning the dinky little POC into a scalable MVP.

This was a full rewrite from Node to Python, creation of a few different custom ML models, and Kubernetes hosting. There were a lot of lessoned learned and we aren't quite done yet.

This talk is the story of hopping on the struggle bus and learning a ton of lessons.
