Hide Menu Bar Icons not working in macOS 27

Describe the bug
Menu bar icons are not hidden in macOS 27.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Launch OnlySwitch
2. Toggle the arrow pointing icon either by right-clicking the OnlySwitch icon, or clicking it and then choosing "Hide Menu Bar Items" in the drop down menu
3. Notice none of the menu bar icons to the left of the arrow point icon ever disappear - only the arrow pointing icon disappears and reappears as usual

Expected behavior
Menu bar icons to the left of the arrow pointing icon should disappear and reappear on setting toggle.

• macOS 27

• OnlySwitch 2.7.4

Additional context
It was still working beautifully in macOS 26.6.2. The moment I upgraded to macOS 27 is when this feature broke.

Since Apple redesigned the menu bar, the old implementation cannot support hide menu bar icons feature. I partially fixed in v2.7.5, but there’re still few problems. Hopefully you can understand it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

After updating, confirmed Hide Menu Items does mostly work again. Three things I noticed:

• The arrow pointing icon now remains after hiding menu items to the left of it.

• Menu items are not hidden by default on boot/reboot anymore (must right-click to hide). (Edit: "Hide Menu after Running" may resolve this. Not sure how it got unchecked in general settings.)

• Live activity (sports score) from iPhone is now also hidden when it wasn't before, so I have to disable Hide Menu Icons to see it. (Live activity cannot be moved by holding Cmd + drag, it seems.)

• Not OnlySwitch related, but Apple has finally given users a way to push icons to the left side of the notch with a new double left arrow menu icon, so icons aren't totally hidden and inaccessible behind the notch anymore.

All in all, an improvement. 👍 Thank you for your hard work!

I just discovered one major issue with the fix not mentioned above. When menu icons are hidden, clicking the Notification Center button in the very top right does nothing. So we can't see the Notification Center or any widgets. ☹️

I can confirm that I am experiencing the exact same issue on my end.

Environment:

• Device: Mac mini (M4)
• OS: macOS 27
• App Version: 2.7.5

@SportingChap Yes. Actually, not only Notification Center, but also Now Playing. The reason is Apple doesn't expose the system icon ids for them, even private API. I have no idea how to eliminate it yet.
