SDL3 version is more modern with active development, supporting multiple operating systems and modern codecs, but a less mature ecosystem. Legacy version (Main branch) has more resources, but supports Windows only, and does not support modern codecs. For reference, the best video codec supported out of the box is WMV3 which came out in 2003.
