One file, +64/−92. Two things, both in LobbyCard.ts.

Hover zooms the map, not the card. Hovering grew the whole button by 2% (hover:scale-[1.02]) and shrank it on press (active:scale-[0.98]), which read as bouncy and shifted neighbouring edges. The card now holds still and the image behind it zooms — 1.12 for cover images, which already sit at 1.05 to hide their edges, and 1.05 for the contain images used on extreme aspect ratios like Amazon River. Clipped by the card's own overflow-hidden rounded-2xl from #5095; the hover shadow is unchanged. Applies to the homepage and the lobby browser alike, since both render lobbyCard.

Cards in the lobby browser overlapped. The <button> was inline-block, and since #5095 gave it overflow-hidden, its baseline moved to its bottom margin edge — so it sat on the line's baseline with the font's descender space under it, pushing the card past its h-40 slot and over the top of the one below. It is now display: block, which is what a w-full h-full button should have been anyway. I can't run a browser on this machine, so that diagnosis is from the CSS rather than from a screenshot of the fix; worth a look at the Special pane before merging.

The map could be dragged, and long-pressed into a new tab on mobile. draggable="false" alone doesn't stop that. The old image wrapper carried pointer-events-none, and I dropped it with the wrapper — my regression within this PR. The <img> now has pointer-events-none select-none itself, so touches and drags land on the button and nothing else.

From review: the featured-lobby subtitle was built with Array.prototype.join, which would render a TemplateResult subtitle as [object Object]. Every caller passes a string today, so it was latent, but it is now a template. The "map" alt fallback was unreachable (gameMap is asserted non-null above it) and is gone rather than translated.

Tidied while here, behaviour unchanged: the image loses a wrapper <div> that only existed to clip it; the pill and badge classes are named once (PILL, BADGE); text-left sits on the button instead of on each line; the "no image" branch is gone (webpPath is a plain string); the aspect-ratio rule is a named function; and the comments say less. button.group, aria-disabled and data-trust are unchanged, so the four test files that reach into the card still pass untouched.

Testing

npm test — 351 files / 4314 tests, plus 58 / 602 on the server pass, exit 0. tsc, oxlint, eslint and Prettier clean.

Walkthrough

LobbyCard keeps the card size fixed during hover and active states. The map image uses contain- or cover-specific transforms. Shared pill and badge classes simplify related markup.

The card uses shadow-only transitions. The map image renders directly with transform transitions and separate contain and cover hover scales. Modifier sorting and rendering are consistent. Shared PILL and BADGE classes simplify related markup.

🤖 Claude Code Review

Verdict: ✅ No issues found — this is a clean, well-scoped fix.

Findings by severity: 0 critical, 0 major, 0 minor.

Summary

Reviewed the diff in src/client/components/LobbyCard.ts (+4/-4), which replaces the whole-card hover:scale-[1.02]/active:scale-[0.98] transform with a group-hover zoom applied only to the inner map <img> (avoiding neighboring-card layout shift on hover).

Checked for:

  • Correctness/bugs: group class is present on the ancestor <button> so group-hover: resolves correctly; overflow-hidden rounded-2xl on the same element clips the zoomed image; Tailwind class names and template-literal syntax are valid; hover-scale specificity correctly overrides the base scale-[1.05] on cover-mode images; transition-shadow still covers the one remaining animated card property (the hover shadow).
  • CLAUDE.md compliance: No violations — this is a Tailwind class-only change in src/client, doesn't touch src/core (no test requirement triggered), and introduces no new user-visible text (no i18n implications).

🤖 Claude Code Review

Verdict: ✅ No issues found — safe to merge as-is.

Findings by severity: 0 critical, 0 major, 0 minor.

This PR (src/client/components/LobbyCard.ts, +62/−92) was reviewed for CLAUDE.md compliance and for bugs/logic/security issues, using two independent passes each:

  • CLAUDE.md compliance (2 independent passes): No violations. No new user-visible strings bypass translateText()/en.json; the change doesn't touch src/core (so the determinism/test-coverage rule doesn't apply); no translation files or dependency-install rules are implicated.
  • Bug / logic / security scan (2 independent passes): No significant bugs. Both passes specifically verified the riskiest parts of the diff and found them behavior-preserving or improved:
    • The title/subtitleLine rewrite (branching on title === mapName instead of featuredLabel truthiness) is equal-or-better in all edge cases checked, including a featured lobby with an empty-string label or a label equal to the map name.
    • The PILL/BADGE class consolidation preserves layout: both pill use sites are direct flex children, so the dropped inline-block is inert, and uppercase/normal-case are still applied correctly.
    • Removing the image wrapper <div> and its pointer-events-none doesn't break click/hover handling, since events on the <img> still bubble to the ancestor <button>.
    • Removing the mapImageSrc truthiness guard is safe since webpPath is always a non-empty string.

No issues found. Checked for bugs and CLAUDE.md compliance.

Hovering a lobby card grew the whole button by 2% and shrank it on press,
which read as bouncy and nudged everything around it. The card now holds
still and the map behind it zooms instead, clipped by the card's own
rounded box. The shadow still lifts on hover.

The card is also made display:block. As an inline-block with overflow
hidden it sat on the line's baseline, and the descender space under it
pushed the card past its slot in the lobby browser, overlapping the one
below.

Tidied while here: the image no longer has a wrapper of its own, the pill
and badge classes are named once, text-left is set on the button rather
than on every line, dead branches are gone (webpPath is never undefined),
and the comments say less.

Both CodeRabbit threads addressed in a00b734ee, plus one fix from testing on a phone.

  • join(" · ") on a string | TemplateResult — valid, though latent: every caller passes a string. The combined subtitle is now built as a template, with the empty-subtitle and missing-map-name cases handled explicitly.
  • Untranslated "map" alt fallback — unreachable, since gameMap is asserted non-null two lines above. Removed rather than translated.
  • Map image was draggable and long-pressed into a new tab on mobile. My regression within this PR: the image wrapper I removed carried pointer-events-none. The <img> now has pointer-events-none select-none itself.

Both Claude Code Review passes came back clean. 351 files / 4314 tests, plus 58 / 602 on the server, exit 0; tsc, oxlint, eslint, Prettier clean.

🤖 Claude Code Review

Verdict: No issues found — 0 findings (0 critical, 0 major, 0 minor).

Reviewed src/client/components/LobbyCard.ts (the only file changed) for CLAUDE.md compliance (i18n/translateText() usage, Lit/Tailwind conventions) and for bugs/logic errors/security issues. Two independent CLAUDE.md compliance passes found no rule violations. Two independent bug-hunting passes found one candidate issue, which was investigated and rejected after verification:

  • A new comparison mapName === undefined in the subtitleLine computation is technically dead code, since getMapName() (in src/client/Utils.ts) returns string | null, never undefined. However, this branch is unreachable in practice: lobby.gameConfig.gameMap is a required, Zod-validated enum, so getMapName cannot return null for any lobby that successfully renders a card. TypeScript does not flag the comparison (nullable-vs-undefined equality checks are permitted), and even in the hypothetical unreachable case, lit-html renders null as nothing (not the literal string "null"), so there is no observable behavior change. Not flagged as a finding.

No CLAUDE.md violations, compile errors, or definite logic bugs were found in the diff.
