I'm Sofia,im currently finishing my Aerospace Engineering BSc from IST, now heading into a Master's in Electrical Engineering (still deciding between EE and Computer Science!). I love building software that lives close to hardware: flight computers, bootloaders, firmware — the hardware–software frontier is my happy place.
An honest note: I don't have any formal background in Computer Science. I'm self-taught and learning by doing, so most of projects here are simple prototypes or experiments, while I try how to figure out how to become a programmer ahaha. I'm proud of what I've built so far and excited to keep improving, I want to become a confident, skilled programmer and I welcome feedback and collaboration :)
Being the Electronics Co-Lead at RED Rocketry,
thaught me to write flight software using FreeRTOS. Away from RED , my language
of choice is Rust 🦀 : bootloaders, no_std firmware, and my
Leptos website. And when I'm not playing with Rust, I'm tweaking my NixOS + Neovim setup ahaha.
Right now I'm working the E-Rocket project, where I'm developing software for a thrust-vector-controlled (TVC) rocket vehicle.
This project has been a huge learning experience for me because it brings together embedded software, control systems, sensor integration in a more complex way than what i worked in RED. I'm working on the flight software side, developing the logic that helps control the vehicle during flight. Additional working with Simulink with the goal of improving the GNC engineer experience. The idea is to abstract all code and make the platform usable by someone how hasn't a deep understanding of the ROS2 environment and C++ programming and provide an infrastructure for SITL and HITL testing :)
- ROS 2 and PX4 — which I use for the E-Rocket project; see my Learning-ROS2 notes
- Embedded Rust with the [embassy]
- Simulink with the ROS and Embedded Coder packages
- Haskell - I suck using functional paradigms and I wanna master the functional programming aspects of rust, so I figure learning Haskell is a good way to do that.
- Master Embassy, and eventualy contribute to it!
- Been reading a lot about the Cortex M7 and M4 architectures, and just for the fun of it, wanna code some realy useless low-level stuff with my brand new H7 series nucleo-board.
