183B+ tokens and 6.6M+ requests served, per the public stats page. One OpenAI-compatible API with free models, paid plans for higher usage, and a marketplace where sellers list models at their own prices. I built and run the gateway: API keys and accounts, wallet and credits, rate limits, abuse controls, usage metering, and model routing. freetheai.org · Docs · Status

FreeTheAI request path: clients such as OpenAI SDKs, Claude Code, and curl call the Go gateway at api.freetheai.org/v1, which handles API keys, wallet and credits, rate limits, abuse controls, and usage metering. A router resolves the model, picks an upstream by price or speed, and streams tokens back from a free model pool or marketplace sellers. PostgreSQL stores accounts, keys, and the usage ledger; Redis holds rate limits and shared request state.
