Home Assistant Tab: Kitchen

Purpose

This tab gives us access to all of the smart items located in our kitchen/eating area:

• Fire Door
• Dishwasher
• Indoor Climate
• Security System
• Kitchen Camera

Fire Door

Purpose:

This card gives us access to the Z-Wave lock on our fire door (the door to the garage) – why do they call it a fire door, anyway?

Dishwasher

Purpose:

This card shows us whether the dishwasher is running and how much power it's drawing. As it progresses through its cycle, the associated input select gets set to the correct value (thanks to Phil Hawthorne for the idea!).

Indoor Climate

Purpose:

This card gives us complete control and visibility over our Nest thermostat.

Security System

Purpose:

This card gives us control over our SimpliSafe security system, as well as the ability to be notified when the security system changes states (useful for when we're on vacation).

Kitchen Camera

Purpose:

We put a Yi Home 1080p Camera on top of our refrigerator to get complete coverage of our kitchen, eating area, living room, and more.
